SAINTE-THÉRÈSE/BLAINVILLE, QC, August 3rd, 2015 – The Sports Committee Chairman of The Royal Canadian Legion, Mr. André Paquette, unveiled the new gold, silver and bronze medals for the 2015 Legion National Youth Track and Field Championships being held in Sainte-Thérèse, QC from August 7th to the 9th, 2015.
“I am particularly proud of this year’s design,” says Mr. André Paquette. “In honour of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Kingdom of the Netherlands,” adds Paquette. “This new design, which features an engraving of Alex Coleville’s painting “Infantry, near Nijmegen, Holland” symbolizes the Legion’s commitment to never forget and honour the sacrifices of generations past for the freedoms enjoyed today at home and abroad,” says Paquette.
The medals, gold, silver and bronze, will be awarded to those athletes that have achieved a corresponding level of success during these championships.
