The Legion National Youth Track and Field Championships are Canada’s only track and field championships for the under-16 and under-18 categories. The Royal Canadian Legion has hosted 48 years of Legion Nationals where young athletes compete for Canadian championship medals.

Through our commitment to supporting youth leadership and sports, the Legion is helping strengthen the next generation of leaders. The event will take place in Regina in 2026 and 2027.

There are two streams in which an athlete can attend Legion Nationals:

By being nominated to their Provincial Legion Team, or
By achieving entry standards and qualifying as an open athlete.

Attendance for the Provincial Legion Teams is mandatory from August 4 through 10, 2027 with the Track and Field Meet taking place August 6 through 8, 2027. The technical manual will offer further information on the selection process and entry standards early in 2027.

Looking back on Legion Nationals 2026

Over 800 young athletes, 200 coaches and countless volunteer took part in the 2026 Legion Nationals in Regina, SK and we are looking ahead to hosting again in Regina in 2027.

Legion Nationals promotes Remembrance

The Royal Canadian Legion is committed to ensuring the tradition of Remembrance is carried from generation to generation. Legion Nationals provides an opportunity to educate youth on Remembrance and engage them in honouring Canada's Veterans.

The Legion Celebrates 100 Years of Service.

Since 1926, The Royal Canadian Legion has stood with Veterans and their families, honoured the Fallen and strengthened communities across Canada. As the Legion marks its Centenary, this milestone will be reflected throughout the 2026 Legion Nationals as this year’s educational theme.

Young athletes and their families will have the opportunity to learn more about the Legion’s 100 years of service, its role in Remembrance, and its ongoing support for all generations of Veterans.
