The Royal Canadian Legion’s major governing forum is its biennual Dominion Convention. All members of the organization are represented by delegates who vote on resolutions and determine national policies as well as the organization’s overall direction. The “Committee Reports and Resolutions” document, which contains the proposed national resolutions, is provided to every Branch for review prior to the Convention.
The election of the Dominion President and members of the Senior Elected Officers, positions held for two years, is conducted at Dominion Convention.
After Convention, a “Convention Report and Proceedings” document, identifying the resolutions that have been passed, is made available to every Branch. The document is also shared with government departments for their review and feedback. A summary “Comments on Resolutions” document is later produced.
47th Dominion Convention – August 25-29, 2018
The 47th Dominion Convention will be held in Winnipeg, Manitoba in August, 2018. Delegates from Legion Branches across Canada, Europe, the USA and Mexico will gather to develop the policies and direction that will guide our way into the future.
