Un membre de la Légion gagne un voyage pour deux à bord de Via Rail

With 300,000 members across Canada and abroad, Legionnaires support Veterans and their families, promote Remembrance, and volunteer in their communities. As a Thank You to our members, The Royal Canadian Legion offered a chance to win a return trip for two between Toronto and Vancouver aboard the iconic Canadian train VIA Rail. The contest ran March 3 through April 21, 2016 and we were delighted to see over 3800 members enter the contest.

Today we are pleased to announce the winner of the VIA Rail Contest

CONGRATULATIONS to Captain (Ret) RCAF Reserve Pat McNinch from Branch 102 in Walkerton, Ontario and his wife Terri McNinch, an active volunteer in their community!

Pat was thrilled to hear he had won the trip. As a 22 year Member of the Legion, Pat is proud of the work his Branch does to support Remembrance, and especially their work with youth and Cadet programs. “In my opinion, the best part of being a Legion member is embodied in the phrase “Lest we forget””, says Pat. His father served in the British Army during the Second World War and Pat has honoured his father’s legacy and Canada’s military history with visits to Vimy Ridge, Dieppe and Juno Beach.

As a Legion member, Pat has had the opportunity to get to know generations of Veterans and hear their stories. He reflects on the important role the Legion plays in ensuring Canadians remember the service and sacrifice of Canada’s military and RCMP and in supporting the many Veterans who need our help today… “Being a part of an organization that does all these things is important to me.”

The Legion is a strong organization and membership is the foundation for everything we do. Without our 300,000 Legion members, the tremendous programs and services the Legion provides to our Veterans and their families would disappear. Thank you to all our members for your support and dedication to Canada’s Veterans and their families. And congratulations to Pat and Terri… we hope you enjoy your trip aboard VIA Rail!

Stay tuned for the next member contest coming soon! If you’re not a Legion Member, now is a great day to join and show your support for Canada’s Veterans. Join today!
