There are a limited number of spaces open to Canadians seeking to participate in the Legion Pilgrimage of Remembrance to the Battlefields of Europe
OTTAWA, ON, MARCH 3rd 2015 – The Royal Canadian Legion extends an invitation to participate in its Pilgrimage of Remembrance to the Battlefields of Europe between 11 and 25 July 2015.
The 2015 Pilgrimage of Remembrance encompasses some of the most important events of both WWI and II and is conducted over a 15-day period. During this time, pilgrims will experience and be guided through the trenches of WWI and the beaches of Normandy, and into Belgium and the Netherlands. As well, they will conduct commemorative ceremonies of Remembrance at some of the cemeteries where so many young Canadians found their final resting place.
“Whether it is to connect with fallen comrades, family members, loved ones or simply to honour those who fell for our freedom, making a pilgrimage to the battlefields of Europe is an experience that can change one’s life,” says Dominion President, Tom Eagles.
Since the passing of a resolution at a Dominion Convention in 1928 to visit Vimy, France for the unveiling of the Canadian National Vimy Memorial, promoting a Pilgrimage has been a part of the Legion’s efforts to encourage Remembrance. Details can be found in the Pilgrimage brochure at www.legion.ca/legion-pilgrimage-of-remembrance6.
Individuals wishing to attend the Pilgrimage should indicate their interest, no later than April 1st, 2015, to the Dominion Command Coordinator, Bill Maxwell, 86 Aird Place, Ottawa, ON K2L 0A1 or to email@example.com. Confirmation of those selected will be confirmed by mid-April 2015.
