What is Dominion Convention?
Every Dominion Convention provides us with an opportunity to reconnect, share and build on the strength of our community.
The Dominion Convention of The Royal Canadian Legion is a significant event held every two years. Legion members from across Canada and abroad gather to discuss key issues, set priorities, and make decisions about the organization's future. It also allows Legion members across the country to meet, share ideas, and learn.
How Does Dominion Convention work?
Dominion Conventions align the organization and set the direction for the years ahead.
The Royal Canadian Legion's governing assembly meets at each Dominion Convention. Delegates discuss policies, past resolutions, and vote on matters affecting Veterans, the Legion, and its future.
Delegates from Canada and abroad provide strong representation.
Convention delegates include representatives from Branches, Provincial Commands, and national levels.
Key issues for Veterans and the Legion are discussed and voted on.
Key discussions focus on Veterans' advocacy and services, and program funding, and membership. The resolutions passed may influence policies on Veteran care, Remembrance initiatives, the Legion's community involvement, and organizational policies and programs.
Elections take place at each Convention.
Leadership elections take place during the convention to select the Senior Elected Officers, including the Dominion President.

The convention location rotates between cities across Canada.

In 2026, The Royal Canadian Legion celebrates its Centenary—100 years of honouring Veterans and serving communities across Canada. This year, it will be more than a Convention—it will be a national milestone.
