Each year, the Legion sponsors the Canadian Armed Forces Contingent in the Nijmegen Marches in the Netherlands. With the Marches cancelled this year, the Legion is continuing its support by sponsoring the CAF-led Victory March in its place.
From May 1 through 9, show your support for Canadian Armed Forces members by joining the Royal Canadian Legion “The Liberation of the Netherlands” Branch 005 Team!
For two days between 1 to 9 May 2021, you can experience the military tradition of marches by joining the Branch 005 Legion team in this virtual event taking place wherever you live.
Join the Legion’s Victory March Team
Anyone can participate in the Legion 005 Branch team and complete a march of their choice: 2 x 2 km, 2 x 5km, 2 x 10km, 2 x 20km or 2 x 20km with weight.
By choosing to participate in the Legion team, our collective fundraising and marching efforts will be joined into one super-support group. Together we will support and share our military teams' preparation for the Nijmegen Marches which are designed to promote sport and exercise and help highlight the symbolic relationship that unites Canada and the Netherlands.
Upon completion of the challenge, you can enjoy a Military Personnel Command coin to remember your experience.
This is a virtual event open across Canada, meaning everyone will march safely in their own community per their local public health guidelines.
We encourage you to plan your march around your community cenotaph or local Legion. Take photos and upload them to social media using #VictoryMarch2021.
Upload your photos for a chance to win
Between May 1 and 9, share your marches on Instagram by using #VictoryMarch2021. Be sure to tag us (@royalcanadianlegion) and Victory March (@victorymarchvictoire) in your post, and you will be entered into a chance to win one of ten $100 to the Legion Poppy Store!
