OTTAWA, ON, JuLY 4th 2014 – Members of The Royal Canadian Legion, largely from Calgary and Southern Alberta, are going to be at the Stampede Grounds for the 2014 Calgary Stampede. They will co-host a booth as part of larger Canadian Armed Forces display at the “Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth” between July 4 and 13th.
“Much like the Legion, the Calgary Stampede is a volunteer-supported, not-for-profit community organization” says Dominion President of The Royal Canadian Legion, Tom Eagles. “They are focused on the preservation and promotion of Western heritage and values and the Legion believes that Canada’s Veterans form an integral part of that heritage and values,” adds Eagles.
The Legion is pleased to be able to participate in this year’s Calgary Stampede alongside members of the Canadian Armed Forces and the Military Family Resource Centre to show our support and generate awareness about the positive impact the Legion has in communities all across Canada. Members of the public will also be able to ask about joining the Legion and support all Veterans and the community work the Legion engages in.
Legion volunteers will have a busy ten days with more than a million attendees expected for this year’s Calgary Stampede.
