Call to Volunteer for the Poppy Campaign

Dec 12, 2016
Through the efforts of Legionnaires and the Poppy Campaign, Canadians are able to collectively honour the Fallen and support Canada's Veterans in need.

From the last Friday in October to Remembrance Day on November 11th, millions of Canadians wear a Poppy as a visual pledge to honour Canada’s Veterans and remember those who sacrificed for our freedom. This show of support would not be possible without the efforts of Legionnaires who volunteer to distribute Poppies in cities, towns, villages, schools, shops and businesses across the country. While Poppies are always offered freely to anyone who wants one, the Legion gratefully accepts any donations to the Poppy Fund in support of Veterans and their families. In the latest Poppy Fund report, our members distributed over 20 million Poppies and raised more than $17 million in donations that were used to provide assistance and supports for Veterans in need!

As October nears, Legion Branches are actively making preparations to launch their local Poppy Campaigns. Branches depend on Legion members to help distribute Poppies. As members, it is our duty to support the Campaign. With just a couple hours of your time, you will be helping Canada honour our Veterans, and raising funds in support of serving and retired military and RCMP members and their families in need.

This year the Poppy Campaign starts on October 28th. Join your fellow Legionnaires in this important initiative and make a difference for Veterans. Contact your local Branch today to volunteer and help make the Poppy Campaign the greatest ongoing tribute to all Canada’s Veterans!

If you are not a Legion member, we encourage you to join your local Legion today and become a part of Canada’s largest Veteran and community support organization! Learn more about the benefits of membership and how you can help: Legion.ca/join
