Member Benefits Package

Delegates of the 1998 Dominion Convention authorized the introduction of a Member Benefits Package to further enhance the value of membership within The Royal Canadian Legion. Following an aggressive affinity marketing program, The Royal Canadian Legion has established, and continues to do so, links with national companies whose products and services meet the needs and interests of our members. Every company selected offers a special or unique benefit that is not normally available to the general public.

Starkey

Starkey is much more than the hearing aids we produce. Starkey is an experience. One that doesn’t merely promise more, but delivers more: more communication, more participation and more opportunities to do what you love to do.  That’s because, starting from day one, Starkey has operated under the single-minded purpose that “Hearing is our concern.” And it’s why, since day two, we’ve been committed to constantly improving the technology of hearing — and creating the best hearing aids possible.

Starkey is proud to be working together with The Royal Canadian Legion

Starkey is the hearing aid industry’s only North American owned and operated company. It has been since our inception in 1967. But hearing loss is a global problem.  In 1984, founder Bill Austin started the Starkey Hearing Foundation. Based on the simple premise, “Alone we can’t do much. But, together we can change the world,” the Foundation has funded a worldwide outreach program called “So the World May Hear,” that has distributed nearly 1,000,000 hearing aids around the world to people in need.  Your support allows us to deliver more than 100,000 hearing aids annually through more than 100 global hearing missions a year, in countries like Mexico, Malawi, Vietnam and Mozambique.

Each hearing life deserves very special treatment. It’s what we believe. It’s the reason why we treat every hearing aid fitting as a life-changing opportunity. Our network of Starkey hearing professionals, including audiologists, hearing aid specialists and ENT doctors, share this philosophy and each will work closely with you to help ensure you get the world’s best hearing solutions.  This is something you will not find at a big box store and its what separates Starkey from the rest.

Starkey believes that independent practices provide state of the art products through highly qualified personnel. When you choose to improve your life through a journey of better hearing, make sure to visit a Starkey recommended clinic, and always insist on a Starkey product.  Not only will you change your life; you’ll help change the lives of people around the world.

Corby Spirit and Wine

With Canadian roots dating back to 1837, Corby – like the Royal Canadian Legion – has been part of the most important
moments of our country’s history that have made Canada today.

After military service in the 1837 Rebellion, our founder, Henry Corby, sold his bakery and bought a St. Lawrence
steamer. Soon enough, he was making his own brand of whisky for local consumption and incorporated the distillery
operation in 1859. Following Confederation in 1867, he became a member of the provincial parliament for East
Hastings and passed on the business to his son, Henry Corby II, in 1881, who was later appointed to the Canadian
Senate in 1912.

War changed our business, and the distillery suspended normal operations to dedicate itself to the war effort,
producing alcohol for munitions both in the first and second World War. Following the end of World War II, the
international distilling industry began a period of consolidation that has continued to the present day. Canadian
troops returning from Europe had acquired new tastes for imported spirits and wines.

In 1969, the Company was listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and still is under the trading symbols CSW.A and
CSW.B.

Today, Corby Spirit and Wine Limited is a leading Canadian marketer and distributor of spirits and imported wines
based in Toronto, Ontario. With approximately 21% of spirits sales in Canada, our premium portfolio includes many
of the top-selling brands in our country. Corby is also, since 2005, affiliated with Pernod Ricard S.A., a global leader in
the spirits and wine industry.

We Care Home Health Services

For seniors who want to live independently in their own homes – and thousands of Legion members certainly fit that description –having the right support can make all the difference, enabling you to live a full and rewarding life. But when is the right time to reach out for that support?

Many seniors wait until they’re faced with a crisis or a medical emergency – a fall, a sudden illness or a surgery from which recovery would be difficult or impossible on their own. They may not realize that getting the right support in the first place can mitigate the risks of more serious incidents. Others seek help in advance of serious need – they just want help with meals and housekeeping or perhaps a bit of companionship from time to time.

Whether the need is urgent or preventative, making the decision to get help can be a challenging one. Anthony Milonas, Chief Operating Officer from We Care, one of Canada’s leading national homehealth care companies, says there are two big questions to consider:

  1. When is the right time to consider getting help?
  2. Who should you turn to?

“If you are having difficulty with mobility and are at risk of a serious fall,” Anthony says, “you should likely consider getting help. The same goes for seniors who are confused about their medications or who have difficulty managing their households.” He adds that seniors recovering from a medical crisis without support may face especially high risks.

As to the second question – who to turn to for help – Anthony says, “Assuming you need professional help, it all boils down to trust. Look for a care provider who, like We Care, is approved by Accreditation Canada – the same group that certifies Canada’s hospitals and other healthcare organizations. Be sure they offer a breadth of services to handle all your care needs – for today and tomorrow.”

Does it matter that We Care is a major supporter of Legion activities and programs? “We think so,” Anthony says. “It shows an understanding and commitment that, we hope, is meaningful to Legion members.”

We Care is a national provider of home healthcare services with offices serving over 800 communities all across Canada.

An exclusive offer for Royal Canadian Legion members: receive a 10% discount off We Care services.*
