The Royal Canadian Legion, in association with Athletics Canada, is proud to announce the 2009 Legion Canadian Youth Track & Field Championships. This year’s event will be held at The University of Sherbrooke in Sherbrooke, QC between 5-11 August. Competition dates are set for 8-9 August.
The Legion Canadian Youth Track & Field Championships now combines the Legion under 15 (U15) and under 17 (U17) programs with an open Youth concept (age 17 and under). Provincial commands will still send teams to compete in the U15 and U17 categories, but eligible additional athletes may compete in the U17 category. In 2008 an additional 250 athletes competed in the under 17 category vying for the right to hold the title of Canadian Champion in their respective event(s).
Technical information and registration packages for The Legion Canadian Youth Athletic Championships will be available by the end of April. Registration for the Championships will begin in May. Athletes who wish to take advantage of the Legion team program should contact their local branch or applicable Provincial Command office. Those in the U17 category who wish to compete as an open athlete will have to register through Athletics Canada.
