Command Service Officers

Command Service Officers receive regular training and timely updates on regulations, policies and business processes. With the introduction of the Canadian Forces Members and Veterans Re-establishment and Compensation Act, commonly referred to as the New Veterans Charter (NVC), and with the ongoing Veterans Health Services Review likely resulting in fundamental changes to the way VAC delivers the three component programs of Health Services (Long Term Care, Veterans Independence Program and Treatment), they must deal with a complex service delivery process.

Command Service Officers complete an enhanced security check, and are regularly trained and updated on security processes and regulations are deemed eligible to access very sensitive information.

There is inherent flexibility in contacting any Command Service Officer via telephone, fax, or e-mail contact. The list of all Command Service Officers can be found on The Legion web site at www.legion.ca / Service Bureau / Service Officers or at Provincial Commands’ web sites. Some Commands maintain a Toll Free line. The Toll Free line for the Dominion Command Service Bureau is 1-877-534-4666 (1-877-LEGION6). Services provided by The Legion to Veterans, spouses and dependants are provided at no cost, irrespective of Legion membership.
