HALIFAX –Mr. Paul Gross, noted stage, television and movie actor, is The Royal Canadian Legion’s first recipient of the Legion’s Founders Award it was announced today at the Legion’s Dominion Convention in Halifax.
Mr. Gross, who could not attend the announcement because of a previous commitment, sent remarks to the delegates at the 44th Dominion Convention at the World Trade and Convention Centre by video.
The award, recently introduced, is given to an individual or an organization for extraordinary achievement in an area that exemplifies and advances the purposes and objects of the Legion in the spirit and vision of the Legion’s founders.
Mr. Gross produced and starred in the movie Passchendale, a very personal project that has been deemed a teaching heritage for future generations. It was a significant project that told of Canada’s major role in the battle and succeeds in promoting Remembrance in a distinctive and extraordinary way.
